A shamed Labour politician has been jailed for sharing images of children being raped online.
Abdul-Majid Rahman, 34, hid a secret as a ‘porn addict’ as a former city councillor and stood as a Labour candidate in last year’s Welsh Parliament elections.
But Rahman shared vile child abuse footage online and discussed his paedophile fantasies with others.
Prosecutor Jason Howells said that after police found more than 100 videos and pictures on an iPhone and laptop Rahman told the he was ‘addicted to pornography’.
Newport Crown Court heard detectives later found he shared child abuse images via Facebook.

Mr Howells said Rahman falsely claimed in online chats that he had been sexually abused as a child and he had sexually abused a child.
Married Rahman told police he had no sexual interest in children, but the judge told him this was a lie.

Rahman admitted possessing and distributing indecent images of children, including Category A images – the worst of its kind.
Anu Mohindru QC, defending, said Rahman had ‘struggled with his sexuality’.
Mr Mohindru said the defendant told him: ‘This has now ruined my life, my career is finished and so likely is my marriage.
‘I was providing for my family and now I have nothing.
‘I do not know what I will do for a job, my options will be very restricted by virtue of the sex offender notification requirements.
‘I cannot explain what has happened and why I did it.
‘I accept the consequences are entirely my own fault.’
Judge, Recorder of Cardiff, Tracey Lloyd-Clarke told Rahman: ‘There was discernible pain and distress suffered by some of the children depicted.
‘You had an active involvement in a network or process that facilitated or commissioned the creation or sharing of indecent images of children and there were a large number of different victims.
‘It is clear you have a sexual interest in children.’
Rahman, now of Porthcawl, South Wales, was jailed for three years and eight months and told he would have to register as a sex offender for life.
