On June 21, 2022, a small company owner called Homesick. co, who operates a hoodie brand, published a video on her TikTok business profile. In the video, she said she was going on a spree, exposing influencers who had gotten free things from tiny companies. Riley Hubatka, a prominent TikToker, and former Hype House member was the first person she revealed.

Riley Hubatka Was Accused By Small Business Owner

The company owner said she initially contacted Hubatka on February 9, 2021, asking if she could give the influencer a free bespoke crewneck in return for social media shout-outs. Hubatka responded on February 19 and agreed, following which the two went back and forth attempting to finish the design. The owner mailed out her crewneck on April 6, 2021, and after repeatedly asking Hubatka whether she had it, the TikToker uploaded her merchandise on Instagram on April 14. However, since Hubatka had not uploaded the TikTok videos as promised, the company owner had to contact her and remind her.

Hubatka ultimately said that she will publish the TikToks, but she couldn’t say when since she was too busy. According to the owner, this occurrence occurred before influencers were compensated for advertisements. Hubatka had still not posted by August. The owner concluded her video by inviting viewers to return for part two. “I never wanted to do this, but it’s been over a year and a half, and I want to warn other small companies,” she said in the video’s description.

Commenters seemed to blame the company owner, suggesting she should have been glad Hubatka mentioned her brand on Instagram. But she defended herself, claiming it was not what they had agreed upon and that if she had known Hubatka would do that, she would not have provided her any merchandise at all.

Riley Hubatka Reacted to the Accusation

However, based on Hubatka’s reaction, which The Original Tiktokroom shared, it seems she kept her end of the bargain. The TikTok had uploaded a picture of the merchandise and tagged her brand as soon as she got it. She also directly gave the owner a photo of herself wearing the merchandise so that she could submit it if she couldn’t.

Hubatka revealed that she was relocating and dealing with many challenges behind the scenes, which she did not want to discuss publicly. “It wasn’t a priority for me to upload a photo of myself in a crew neck since I had previously posted for her and mentioned her company.” We had discussed it over dm, and I assumed everything was good,” stated the TikTok. She then apologized for not being able to upload the videos and said that she has always supported small companies. Hubatka concluded the message by stating that she had a lot going on at the moment and apologized once again.
