Who is Adhnon Marrtab ?
A rapist who harassed a single woman after she was released from hospital and then attacked her has been jailed for nine years.
Adhnon Marrtab made lewd comments to the woman and chased her into a church courtyard where he raped her in the early hours of October 25 last year.
The 24-year-old was arrested after police circulated an image of the victim’s attacker.
Marrtab pleaded guilty to rape and s*xual assault after it was discovered that he had a bite mark on his shoulder that matched the account the victim gave detectives.
The 28-year-old woman had just been discharged from the hospital at 3:45 a.m. and she was on her way to her house when Marrtab attacked her.
Shortly after getting off the bus at Golders Green station, she made a trip to a local shop before crossing the road and waiting for another bus to take her closer to her home.
She then noticed a man, who has since been identified as Marrtab, crossing the street and walking towards her.
Despite yelling in an attempt to dissuade him from talking to her, he reached over and grabbed the phone out of her hand.
When she pushed him away and tried to get away from her, he grabbed her and continued to follow her, making s*xual comments as she did so.
Victim
Marrtab then raped and assaulted the victim in a church yard before she ran away from him and jumped over a large fence before running to get help.
Following the incident, detectives worked closely with the Met’s forensic teams to identify the unknown criminal.
A CCTV examination for a bus showed Marrtab boarding a bus and tapping on his Oyster card.

A travel history was subsequently obtained from him and officers were able to analyze a travel pattern that emerged.
He circulated as wanted in the police systems and a pursuit began.
Arrested and Charged
With the help of the Met’s Violent Crime Task Force, Marrtab was arrested on 31 October 2021 outside a hotel in Wembley and was subsequently charged.
After his arrest, Marrtab was taken into custody and a body search was conducted, which revealed a large bite mark on his shoulder.
Following the incident, detectives worked closely with the Met’s forensic teams to identify the unknown criminal.
