  2. She was previously active as a Liberal Democrat and was president of Oxford University Liberal Democrats as well as a member of the national executive committee of Liberal Democrat Youth and Students.

In an interview on BBC television on February 27, 2022, Liz Truss was asked if she supported anyone volunteering to travel to Ukraine to help the country in its defense against the Russian invasion, she responded: “Absolutely, if people want to support that struggle, I would support them in doing that.” However, her comments were criticized by former Attorney General Dominic Grieve who stated that such action would be illegal under the Foreign Enlistment Act 1870.
