A man whose voice is synonymous with baseball for generations of Dodgers fans (both in Brooklyn and Los Angeles), and for fans of America’s Pastime in general, Vin Scully, has passed away at the age of 94.
The organization announced the sad news via a social media post that was released during the team’s Tuesday night contest against the rival San Francisco Giants.

The post reads:
He was the voice of the Dodgers, and so much more. He was their conscience, their Poet Laureate, capturing their beauty and chronicling their glory from Jackie Robinson to Sandy Koufax, Kirk Gibson to Clayton Kershaw.
Vin Scully was the heartbeat of the Dodgers – and in so many ways, the heartbeat of all of Los Angeles.

Vin passed away at the age of 94 on August 2, 2022.
“We have lost an icon, said Dodger President and CEO Stan Kasten. “The Dodgers’ Vin Scully was one of the greatest voices in all of sports. He was a giant of a man, not only as a broadcaster, but as a humanitarian. He loved people. He loved life. He loved baseball and the Dodgers. And he loved his family. His voice will always be heard and etched in all of our minds forever. I know he was looking forward to joining the love of his life, Sandi. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time. Vin will be truly missed.”

As Vin said at the end of his final broadcast, “May God give you, for every storm, a rainbow; for every tear, a smile; for every care, a promise; and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life seems, a faithful friend to share; for every sigh, a sweet song, and an answer for each prayer. You and I have been friends for a long time, but I know, in my heart, I’ve always needed you more than you’ve ever needed me, and I’ll miss our time together more than I can say. But, you know what, there will be a new day, and, eventually, a new year, and when the upcoming winter gives way to spring, ooh, rest assured, once again, it will be time for Dodger baseball. So, this is Vin Scully wishing you a pleasant good afternoon, wherever you may be.”
