Women seeking serious relationships should date men over the age of 45 who are more chivalrous and less likely to play games than their younger counterparts, a single Australian radio producer has claimed.

Jana Hocking, who works at Sydney’s Triple M station, has always followed a self-scripted rule book which dictates that men with criminal records, emotional issues and alcohol or substance addiction must be avoided at all costs.

But recently, the 35-year-old has added another category to that list: men between the ages of 30 and 40.

Ms Hocking refers to this bracket as a ‘whopping great black hole’ in the middle of the dating scene, filled with men who are already in long-term relationships and therefore not looking for anything more than fleeting fun.

‘Go for a merry swipe of Tinder…you will find a gazillion blokes in their 20s, and quite a few older mating partners, but blokes in their 30s? Crickets,’ she told news.com.au.

Instead, the self-proclaimed ‘collector of kind-of-boyfriends’ advised choosing a younger partner just under 30 or a ‘handsome elder gent’ who has already weathered at least one serious relationship and is ready for love again.

Based on personal experience, Ms Hocking confirmed that older men are more chivalrous and less likely to play mind games than their younger counterparts.

She added that men unfairly grow more attractive with age, citing Hollywood actor George Clooney as an example.

Ms Hocking’s claim that men between 30 and 40 are largely ‘off the market’ as they settle down and have children is supported by statistics.

The median age for Aussie men to marry is 32.4, according to figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

On the other side, figures show the median age for males to divorce is 45.9, which explains the deluge of men above that age on dating apps.

But dating later in life is not without its perils, Ms Hocking warned, as men are just as likely as women to use decades old photos on their social media and dating profiles.

She knows of many cases of ‘kittenfishing’, the term for misrepresenting facts about yourself like age, height and weight online.

‘That’s why I like to FaceTime before I go on a first date, nothing worse than accidentally going on a date with Grandpa,’ she said.

Ms Hocking has previously said while finding the right romantic partner is tricky, she’ is determined to keep trying until she meets ‘the one’.
