Family
“There will be enormous sympathy for the (Francisco-Martinez) family, who endured such a tragic event,” Chicago Law Department attorney Mimi Ruether said before the Finance Committee unanimously authorized the settlement.
“The accident involved the Chicago police officer himself; it was not the offender who was involved in the accident, which will potentially affect the amount of a settlement and verdict.”
Both the officer and the vehicle he was pursuing ran a red light, the Chicago Tribune reported. The officer rammed Francisco-Martinez while she had a green light and was moving between 20 and 27 mph, according to the publication.
