  2. Charlie Dick (1957-1963) – Patsy Cline got married to Linotype operator Charlie Dick on September 15, 1957, and their marriage was considered both romantic and tumultuous. They were blessed with 2 children – daughter Julia Simadore Dick (b. August 25, 1958) and son Allen Randolph “Randy” Dick (b. February 28, 1961). The duo remained together until Cline’s death in 1963.

  2. She was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever when she was 13 years old.
  3. Her father had abandoned the family by 1947.
  4. She taught herself how to play the piano.
  5. Patsy Cline shared an amazing bond with her mother and they “were more like sisters” than parent and child.
  6. She was s*xually abused by her father, something she revealed to her friend Loretta Lynn. Cline also told her, “take this to your grave.” Later on, Cline’s mother shared details of the abuse to producers of Cline’s 1985 biopic Sweet Dreams.
  7. Cline and Loretta Lynn’s friendship has been the subject of many books, songs, films, and other projects and Lynn described Cline as “a great human being and a great friend”.
  8. Along with her brother Sam, Cline was involved in an automobile accident on June 14, 1961, and she spent a month recovering from her injuries in the hospital.
  9. On August 3, 1999, she was posthumously awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6160 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
