A husband has been charged with the murder of his wife at the couple’s multi-million dollar beachside home.

Business development manager Steven Barker, 74, was arrested Thursday night and charged with one count of murder after police were called to a home on Bronte Road, Bronte, in the city’s east.

Officers found a 74-year-old woman outside her property with serious injuries, which police believe were inflicted in a suspected domestic violence incident.

The woman was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital, but she could not be revived.

Daily Mail Australia understands that police are investigating whether a child may have witnessed the alleged incident.

The California bungalow is just 600m from Bronte Beach, where properties sell for up to $25 million.

No weapons are believed to have been used in the alleged attack.

Mr. Barker was arrested at the scene and was denied bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Friday morning.

Footage from the scene shows the elderly man, with gray hair, a beard and glasses, being led out of the house with his hands behind his back.

Blood stains were visible on the sleeve of his T-shirt and there appeared to be a bruise under his left eye.

Parker worked as a business development manager for telecom network installation company Schokman, according to his LinkedIn.

Police tape surrounded the home Friday as uniformed police officers and detectives searched the home for evidence.

Detectives later left the house with brown bags of evidence before loading them into the back of a police car.

Police even confiscated letters delivered by a postman on Friday.

Neighbors of the family have been dismayed by the news of the death of the 74-year-old woman.
