Laney rose to fame after appearing on SyFy’s reality competition show Face Off in 2013 for its fifth season. She voluntarily withdrew from the show, earning the fifth-place spot.
Afterward, the 33-year-old worked with several big names, including Marilyn Manson and Bella Thorne.
She also created the famous Head FX Makeup for Lil Nas X for his music video Montero (Call Me By Your Name), which won the 2021 MTV VMA for Video of the Year.

Laney Chantal died on October 31, 2022, in Milford, Michigan. Her family confirmed the unfortunate news in a public obituary, sharing that she had “struggled with several mental illnesses throughout her adult life.”
The family did not provide additional details on her demise besides that it was caused by “an accidental drug overdose.”
The Parkhurst family requested donations to a foundation called The Brain & Behavior Research, stating the mental struggles their daughter experienced throughout her life. She had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (BPD) and addiction.
Six months before her death, Laney had posted a photo of a pink coffin being buried on her Instagram.
Fellow makeup artist Gabriella Accarino paid her tribute and remembered Laney as her “sister and soulmate,” noting her genuineness, talent, and beautiful soul.

“Alaina put her whole self, body, mind, and soul into her jobs, no matter the size,” her obituary said. It mentioned her artistic ability and visions that quickly set her apart from other artists in her field.
