Remember the Paul Pelosi story from a month-and-a-half ago that the press wants us to forget? Here is another reason they are smothering it.

When the news broke in late October that the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – Paul Pelosi — had been brutally beaten in their home, the media could not contain themselves. More than just the newsworthiness of the attack itself, the press saw fit to unload all manner of commentary about how this was all the work of the political right. It was a direct attack on the Democrats, and the violence had been directly inspired by rhetoric from the right, with the “proof” displayed by some nebulous social media posts of David Depape.

Now comes word from the son of the attacker, named Nebosvod “Sky” Gonzalez, that his father is not how the press desperately wanted to portray him. Gonzalez tells The Daily Mail that Depape is basically an unaffiliated leftist, something backed up by what was seen at the site of his home. One news report from the location described it as sporting Black Lives Matter and gay pride flags, and other activist adornments. Depape’s other positions were described by his son.

He also debunked the idea that the attack was politically motivated. ‘My father had a lot of political views and told me about a lot of different things, but he didn’t subscribe to either political party, Democrat or Republican. Gonzalez said he believed his father was a member of the Green Party. “My father had progressive views. He believed in human rights, equality, and justice. He was against the war, he was a peace activist, hardly a right-wing conservative, as he has been branded.”

We have seen a stark evolution with this story in the press. After weeks of hysterics from journalists, the story suddenly evaporated. No longer were long-winded commentaries seen and the unresolved aspects of this news story were outright abandoned. Many in the press even came out to declare that further exploration and the revelation of factual details, like the withheld body-cam footage from police, would only encourage conspiracy theories.

One NBC News reporter who broke a new component of the details from the night of the attack quickly saw his story killed off by the network and he soon found himself suspended. Miguel Almaguer still has not been heard from, despite a local news affiliate coming out with a separate report declaring the same details he had revealed. We still have not had the police-cam footage nor any of the security monitoring videos released.

There have been numerous news reports delivering contradictory details about the night of the attack, and remarkably the reaction to those paradoxes has been that those on the right are spreading misinformation. This is the accusation from the very outlets which have delivered the conflicting stories.

To see the level of desperation look no further than this column by two members of the slanted media hall monitors at Newsguard. They try to show how conservative sites were spreading misinformation about the story, except the reports all were emanating from legacy news outlets. In claiming the details spread had been debunked, the examples shown were debunked after their targeted sites had linked to the news items. In at least one case, the claimed misinformation had yet to even be corrected by the originating network source.

It all paints a picture of a news force that was intent on pushing a particular narrative and not investigating the actual story. Now, even more evidence comes out to unravel the followed script, and it only shows the misinformation derives from the very news outlets that love to level that accusation.

Facts and transparency will eliminate all of the confounding commentaries on social media. As we are now seeing, facts and transparency are the two things the news divisions are intent to keep from getting out.
