Hopefully, you all had a chance to be with your families this Christmas and to celebrate with those who you love.

We had some challenges with travel and illness, so thank God for technology that we were able to see some relatives virtually if not in person.

So I thought I’d check in and see what some of the politicians with whom we have been saddled had to say about Christmas.

Let’s start with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Voters gave us a great gift this year, something to celebrate into the coming year — that she will no longer be Speaker. That will be the gift that keeps on giving. We will be free of her plaintive bleats about how everything she does is “for the children” (even when you know it’s all for her power) as the leader.

Here’s Pelosi’s Christmas entry. Usually, you pick a nice picture of yourself with your family. I don’t know what the heck is going on with her in this picture. She looks like she’s in shock and where the heck is the family?

“For the People” = for her advancement and pocketbook.

But hey, at least she had already wished everyone a “Happy Schwanza!” in her final floor remarks as Speaker.

Then there was Hillary Clinton, who posted this throwback to Christmas, 1995.

Now, if she wasn’t such a slimy human being, I might feel sorry for the obvious issues she has. She’s been doing this a lot lately: posting old pictures of herself, I think because she doesn’t much like how she looks now and because she still has longings for the White House. She’s stretching to look “presidential” and that’s sad that everyone gets that’s what it’s about. She wasn’t president then and she’s never going to be president.

I also wonder if she only is posting old pictures because she and Bill can’t even stand to be in the same room with each other for Christmas, so she doesn’t have those pictures. But does she remember as she looks back to this picture she posted, this would have been when Bill Clinton was having his affair with Monica Lewinsky in 1995?

Then there was this one from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Nice Christmas scene, not a bad message. But this one struck me because of the reactions — Mitch got ratioed on a Christmas message, a unique accomplishment. Everyone is furious at McConnell for throwing in with the Democrats and going along with the horrible omnibus bill and pouring endless amounts into Ukraine. They’ve had it with him. He’s clueless or just doesn’t seem to care. Virtually every response was some version of “you traitor” and the anger was palpable.

This response listed some of the horrible highlights of the bill.

But I guess we can’t leave the topic of Christmas pictures without sharing the one from Joe and Jill Biden.

The White House posted this picture on Saturday night, showing them decorating a Christmas tree in the White House. It was staged, but as with everything to do with Joe Biden, weird and a bit problematic. Who puts a Christmas tree right in front of a door? I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to put Joe Biden on a ladder, but given the way he falls off bikes while standing still and somehow can manage to fall multiple times walking up stairs, it would seem an ill-advised thing to do. He was likely on only for a moment for the picture.

Jill looks like she’s been photoshopped a bit or maybe she’s just in some favorable lighting. We saw a Democrat promoting a photoshopped image of Joe and Jill the other day, that was cleaned up to make them appear younger, so who knows? There’s a branch going through the ladder that looks like it’s an additional couple of feet away from the rest of the tree, it’s got an ornament on it, so it’s a good thing that Biden didn’t trip over it. Click on it to enlarge it.

I hope for the new year with the new Congress that we can hold some of these folks to account, and bring a better year for all of us.
