Elon Musk has trained an important spotlight on government involvement in censoring speech with the Twitter Files. He’s also played a vital role in loosening the control that liberals had of speech on Twitter. Now liberals no longer control the narrative and they are not at all happy about that, and they’ve taken out a lot of that anger on Musk and the Twitter Files journalists.

Through the Twitter Files and the Democratic meltdown about what was being exposed, we’ve seen just how much effort was being exerted to influence social media and shape the narrative that was being put out there. We saw how the FBI was involved in flagging people’s posts on Twitter. We saw things like Rep. Adam Schiff’s staff flagging a journalist whose reporting was exposing Schiff. We saw the government trying to censor COVID information they didn’t like, with the Democrats made to look silly when they denied the effort and it was revealed that even Robert F. Kennedy, Jr was flagged. We saw Democrats flip out and attack the journalists who dared to report what was going on and try to smear them. We even saw the IRS showing up at the door of one of them — Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi — on the very day that he was testifying before Congress and being vilified by the Democrats.

Now Elon is sitting down with Tucker Carlson for a two-part interview. A portion of that interview is about Musk’s concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence. But another section is about the future of Twitter and some of the important things that Musk has discovered about what has been going on since he took over.

Carlson has released a couple of clips of the interviews which are to run Monday and Tuesday nights.

Musk believes that artificial intelligence could be a danger to the world.

“AI is more dangerous than, say, mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance or bad car production,” Musk told Carlson. “In the sense that it has the potential, however small, one may regard that probability, but it is non-trivial, it has the potential of civilization destruction.”

That’s not a small thing and that should be a fascinating part of the interview to see what he has to say about that. He’s been warning about the dangers of it for some time.

What he said about the government and Twitter was perhaps even more immediately concerning. The AI threat is at the moment hypothetical. The government intrusion into our social media and our communications is a here-and-now threat.

“The degree to which various government agencies effectively had full access to everything that was going on at Twitter blew my mind,” Musk revealed.

“Would that include access to DMs?” Tucker asked.

“Yes,” Elon replied.

If that’s true, it goes even further than anything that we’ve seen yet. All kinds of information would have been at risk and exposed to the government. That’s more than a little troubling. Who was involved in this? And what agencies — was it more FBI stuff? He says “effectively,” which suggests to me that perhaps they don’t have direct control — that is, direct access — but that they have things turned over to them.

What exactly does this mean, how far did it go, and is it still going on? Let’s hope he reveals a lot more on the subject.
