Weekend Today co-host Richard Wilkins has revealed his New Year’s resolution.

The showbusiness veteran, 66, told 9Honey he wants to focus on his health and well-being in 2021.

Richard said he intends to cut down his alcohol intake and exercise more in the coming months.

When asked about his plans for 2021, Richard said he doesn’t believe in making resolutions in a strict sense, but does want to focus on his health.

‘I stopped doing that [resolutions] a few years ago,’ he said.

‘But in general it would be to exercise a bit more, drink a bit less.’

Richard had a challenging 2020, and was even diagnosed with coronavirus.

He returned to his hosting duties on Weekend Today in April, after 18 days in self-isolation with asymptomatic Covid-19.

In an interview with The Australian that month, Richard reflected on his battle with the respiratory virus and stressed he never once felt unwell.

‘I swear on my life, I’ve still not had a runny nose, a headache or a fever. And I’ve not had a Codral or a Nurofen. Not a thing,’ he said.

Richard went into self-isolation on March 12, shortly after it was revealed that actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, had tested positive for coronavirus.

Richard had met Rita twice: once backstage at the Sydney Opera House and again during her interview on Today Extra on March 9.

He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 15 and got the same result for two more tests before getting the all-clear from NSW Health.
