Douglas Anthony Ducey (born April 9, 1964) is a businessman and politician from the United States. He is Arizona’s 23rd governor and the former CEO of Cold Stone Creamery, an ice cream parlor company. Ducey was the CEO of Cold Stone Creamery from 1995 to 2007 when he and his business partner sold it. He served as Arizona’s State Treasurer from 2011 to 2015. Ducey was elected governor of Arizona on November 4, 2014, and began office on January 5, 2015. In 2018, he was re-elected.

Doug Ducey was born on April 9, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, in the United States. Douglas Anthony Roscoe Jr. reared him. His father is Madeline Scott, and his mother is Douglas Roscoe Sr., a former Toledo Police Department officer. His parents split in 1975, and his mother married businessman Michael Ducey, whom she married until 1981. Douglas and his brothers were adopted by Michael Ducey in 1976, and Douglas’ last name was formally changed to that of his adoptive father.
Ducey graduated from St. John’s Jesuit High School in 1982 before moving to Arizona to attend Arizona State University (ASU) while working at Hensley & Co., the Anheuser-Busch distributor owned by Cindy McCain’s family. He received his Bachelor of Science in finance in 1986. During his governor’s race in 2014, press reports revealed that some of Ducey’s family in Toledo were connected to organized crime in Ohio. There was no evidence that Ducey benefitted from or engaged in a criminal action, according to the probe. Ducey did not respond.

Career
Doug Ducey joined Procter & Gamble after graduating from ASU and began a career in sales and marketing. From 1995 through 2007, Ducey was the CEO of Cold Stone Creamery. Ducey was elected Arizona’s state treasurer in 2010, succeeding Dean Martin.
In July 2013, Ducey filed the paperwork required to investigate running for governor. In the general election on November 4, Ducey defeated Democrats Fred DuVal and Barry Hess. Ducey was against same-sex marriage and domestic relationships for unmarried couples. As governor in 2015, he advocated for same-sex couples to be able to adopt children.
In April 2019, he approved legislation repealing sex and health education regulations that barred the “promotion” of homosexuality as a viable “lifestyle.” Ducey stated his desire to seek reelection to a second term in 2018. Ducey was re-elected in November, defeating Democratic nominee David Garcia.
