Career
Minaya was an unranked prospect out of high school who earned many college basketball offers. South Carolina, UNC Wilmington, Boston University, Illinois, Iona, and UMass all made formal offers to him. Minaya visited South Carolina and UNC Wilmington before committing to the Gamecocks and signed his letter of intent on May 15, 2017.
Minaya spent four seasons with the Gamecocks, from 2017 to 2021, missing just five games due to a serious knee injury. Minaya will also get thumb surgery in 2020. He was a four-year starter for South Carolina under head coach Frank Martin. Minaya moved to Providence for his graduation season after four years at South Carolina. Minaya averaged 6.5 points per game and started 25 of the 32 games he appeared in for Providence during the 2021-22 season. In 2022, the Friars won the Big East regular season title and reached the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 after beating South Dakota State and Richmond before falling to Kansas.
Minaya joined the Charlotte Hornets for the 2022 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft.[2] He was selected to the roster of the Capitanes de Ciudad de México for the 2022-23 NBA G League season.
