Tom Parker has invested in a £2,500 tap from the United States to deliver alkaline water in a bid to help his terminal brain cancer.

The Wanted singer, 32, has been receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy for brain cancer since being diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in September 2020.

The father of-two explained he discovered he was using the tap the wrong way and was actually drinking the waste water from it as he sampled alkaline water as a potential benefit to help with his condition.

Tom has tried out various techniques to help with his recovery, including vegan food, but has started putting meat back into his diet now.

The star revealed he had the special tap fitted to his kitchen by a plumber friend.

Alkaline water has a higher pH level than regular drinking water and because of this, some advocates of alkaline water believe it can neutralise the acid in your body.

Tom shared with his Instagram followers: ‘We’ve got a new tap. It alkalines your water. Apparently that’s good for high tumours and stuff.

The singer revealed he’d mistakenly been drinking from both taps when he was meant to be only drinking from the larger one.

He continued: ‘Anyway, there’s two taps, a big one and a little one, so I’ve been filling my water up from both taps. I asked Dean cause he fitted it, “Do you drink out of both taps cause it comes out a bit slow.?”

‘No. the second one, the little one’s the waste tap. Why didn’t you tell me before you fitted it k***head. I’ve been drinking waste water?’

Some claim Alkaline water has benefits for people with cancer and for cancer prevention, because it’s thought that some cancer cells grow better in acidic environments.

The filter tap comes with a touchscreen to let users decide how acidic they want their water to be.

It also features two separate spouts, the first for the filtered water, and the second for waste water.

Taking to his Instagram to announce the happy news, he wrote: ‘SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION These are the words I received today and I can’t stop saying them over and over again.’

The singer has even managed to put on weight due to his love for cereal.

He added: ‘Before this all happened I was about 11 stone, 11 and half stone. Then when I started chemo and radio I went down to about eight and a half stone.’

‘I’ve started to put the weight back on now. I just looked at my chin and thought “Jesus Christ I need to stop eating cereal”.’

Tom has tried various methods to help with his recovery since he was diagnosed in September, including a vegan diet, which he has subsequently ditched.

He recently said: ‘When we first found out I was diagnosed with a brain tumour everyone was well on it for me.

‘You see some of the stuff I was eating for the first couple of months. I pretty much went vegan, wasn’t I. I was eating lentils and s***.

‘Anyway I’m not really doing the vegan thing to be honest cause I didn’t really enjoy it to be honest, so I’ve added a bit of meat back into my diet but nowhere as near as before.’
