EastEnders’ star Letitia Dean stunned fans with her transformation after losing four dress sizes in just four months. The actress, who has been a part of the soap since its first episode in 1985, commented on her new look saying, “I’ve been pampered, polished and plucked”.
Fans have noticed her change in appearance, claiming it has “knocked years off” her. Letitia has openly discussed her struggles with body image and weight fluctuations over the years. In 2020, she revealed how she had been targeted by cruel trolls.
She shared some of the hurtful comments she received, such as “She’s too fat, the other actors complain they can’t fit on the same set with her”.
Letitia was only 17 when she first joined the show and has previously spoken about how constant criticism over her body image damaged her self-confidence and led to her getting a breast reduction as a teenager.
Letitia confessed that nasty comments played a part in her decision to have surgery, but there were health reasons too. “Backache had a lot to do with that decision too,” she shared with Hello! magazine back in October 2001, adding: “But I was a lot less secure about myself and there was a lot of focus on how I looked.”
