A 50-year-old woman, who looks 10 years younger, outlined four “important habits” for a healthy life.

TikTok star Tracy Steen, who is a personal trainer, revealed the simple things that help her stay fit as she gets older.

Speaking on her TikTok channel, she said: “Here’s what I’m doing differently in my 50s than I did in my 40s, 30s, 20s to stay fit and healthy.”

1. Move my body daily

The trainer explained that she exercises daily, prioritising two types of physical movement. Steen said: “I’m definitely moving my body daily and I’m prioritising resistance training which is crucial as we age.

“I’m adding in cardiovascular workouts as well. Plus, my daily walks to get morning light in my eyes.”

Exercise has been linked to multiple health benefits, and even longevity in research. For example, regularly exercising with weights could lower your risk of death from any cause, with the exception of cancer, according to research, carried out in older adults and published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

Furthermore, exposure to light on a morning walk will help reset your circadian rhythm – an internal clock that helps to dictate alertness or sleepiness, appetite, and body temperature – and give you a much-needed energy boost.

2. Dialing in nutrition

Another important thing that Steen swears by is a healthy diet that focuses on plants, fibre and protein.

Healthy food choices are some of the greatest weapons you can add to your arsenal of protection against age-related diseases.

However, the personal trainer also likes to supplement. She said: “I’m adding in my daily AG1 supplement whether I’m travelling or I’m at home.

“AG1 just gives me this boost in mental energy and clarity. It also stimulates my digestion and supports my gut health. So I think that’s so important.”

AG1 by Athletic Greens refers to a health supplement that packs over 75 vitamins, minerals and whole food-sourced nutrients.

3. Prioritise sleep

Steen shared that she’s also “obsessed” with getting a good night’s sleep. She added: “I make this a big priority. It’s the foundation of everything else.”

A healthy sleep pattern has been linked to benefits ranging from good cardiovascular health to better brain performance. On the other hand, not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders.

4. Daily self-care activity

The last tip the 50-year-old swears by is doing daily self-care activities.
