TEEN Mom Jenelle Evans explained the reason why she can’t divorce David Eason for a year.
On Monday, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Jenelle, 32, filed to separate from her husband David, 35, due to his alleged “erratic behavior,” among other things.
The Teen Mom star took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to give fans another update on the split.
She answered questions submitted by fans.
Someone asked why she didn’t skip the separation and go straight to an official divorce.
Jenelle answered from her North Carolina home.
“I would’ve skipped straight to a divorce,” explained Jenelle.
“But I couldn’t. In the state of North Carolina, you have to be legally separated for a year.
“You have to prove that you have two separate addresses. You don’t have to file it really to prove that you lived in two separate address for a year, but the problem with that is that neither of us wanted to leave.”
Jenelle ended the story and trailed off with a sarcastic, “So.”
Jenelle and David married in 2017.
In their blended family, they share 7-year-old daughter Ensley, while Jenelle is also mom to sons Jace, 14, and Kaiser, 9, from previous relationships.

David is also dad to 16-year-old daughter Maryssa.
In Jenelle’s court complaint for separation, the Teen Mom 2 alum lashed out at David, mentioning everything from his admitted murder of their pet dog, Nugget, in 2019 to his current felony charge for allegedly strangling her son, Jace, 14.
The complaint also targeted David’s alleged refusal to work, his excessive spending of Jenelle’s money, and his text exchange with his ex-wife, which she called “criminal conversations.”
NO TURNING BACK
Jenelle noted in the filing, which was entered into court on February 23, that she and David officially separated on February 16 “with the intent that the separation be permanent.”
“Throughout the duration of the marriage of the parties, the defendant has exhibited concerning and at times disturbing behavior towards the plaintiff,” the ex-MTV star said.
Things appeared to come to a head recently when Jace accused David of allegedly assaulting him after his multiple runaway attempts.
Jenelle stuck by her man’s side even while the sheriff’s office investigated the allegations, and David was “subsequently charged with misdemeanor child abuse and felony assault by strangulation.”
Jace was put into his grandmother Barbara’s custody after the alleged incident but has since returned to live with his mother.
CLAPPING BACK?
David also recently spoke out and said he supposedly has several damning pieces of information against Jenelle.
Shortly before news of Jenelle’s filing broke, David again took to Instagram to bash his ex.
“Yall want to see more of Jenelles dirty laundry? It’s all about to be aired out! But WARNING she hasn’t done laundry in 7 months or more!” David wrote before quickly deleting the post.

“For a long time I thought he has something on her and that’s why she went back the first time and she continued to stay…” one Instagram user wrote.

“God I can’t stand this man but I do want the tea,” remarked a third.
“Stop there is no need for this. Don’t respect the mother of your children,” a fourth slammed.
