ARMIE Hammer has opened up about the cannibalism claims made against him.
The actor shared that the accusations made him suicidal, but also revealed why he’s grateful for them.
On a recent podcast episode of Painful Lessons, Armie, 37, gave a candid interview about those accusations as well as the sexual abuse ones.
“People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them,” he told host Tyler Ramsey.
“Now I’m able to sort of look at it with a sense of distance and perspective and be like, ‘That’s hilarious’. They were like, ‘Yep, that guy ate people’ Like, what? What are you talking about? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! … It was bizarre.”
When the accusations against him first came out, Armie said that they were an ego and career death.
“A neutron bomb went off in my life. It killed off [everything],” he said.
However, Armie admitted that he felt an actual death coming on after he secluded himself due to the public backlash.
‘I CAN’T TAKE THIS’
Armie spoke after retreating to the Cayman Islands after everything came out.
“There were a lot of times when I thought, ‘I can’t take this any more.’ And I hit really low, dark points,” he said.
“This is more stress than any human should have to deal with.”
“I was standing on the shore and I just looked out at the ocean and thought, ‘Yep, this is it,’ and I just swam out really f**king far. I thought, ‘I’m done. There’s nothing out there for me.’ And I got out really far,” he said.

“And I was just laying there … [in] a half-a**ed suicide attempt …but I was there and I was in it and it seemed like the only option.”
“And then an image of my kids popped into my head, standing on the shore, saying ‘Where’s dad?’ and I was like I can’t do that to my kids, so I turned back,” Armie admitted.
Armie shares two children – Harper, 9, and Ford, 7 – with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers.
He and Elizabeth divorced in 2020.

‘I’M GRATEFUL’
However, at the end of it all, Armie shared that he is grateful for the accusations because it taught him a lesson.
“Whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I’m now at a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” he said.
“Why did this happen? What do I need to learn from this situation? and you can take the high road.”
“I pray that everyone who takes the higher road, like I have, will become grateful for their painful lessons,” Armie ended.
ACCUSATIONS
Armie was accused of being a cannibal after he had reportedly sent disturbing cannibalistic messages between 2016 and February 2020 to a woman who was not his wife.
On January 12, 2021, a woman claiming she was previously involved with the actor revealed screenshots of their alleged exchanges on Instagram.
“I am 100 percent a cannibal. I want to eat you,” Armie allegedly wrote in one message.
“I need to drink your blood. I’m going to be soooo naughty and kinky with you.”
In another shocking message, he reportedly wrote, “I need to eat your entire body.
“I need to touch every part of you, inside and out. I want to bite pieces off of you.”
“You just live to obey and be my slave. I will own you. That’s my soul. My brain. My spirit. My body,” another reportedly said.
“Would you come and be my property till you die? If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession?
“I feel like the same way you are on one side of the slave spectrum, I am on the other side of the master spectrum and I can’t ever imagine another slave,” read another.
“I don’t even want one [another ‘slave]. I would never feel as strongly. F**k. Too drunk and honest.”
However, Armie denied the claims made against him.
