Jane McDonald decided to change her lifestyle a few years ago and lost an impressive four stone by cutting out certain foods from her diet.

While taking part in the TV show Sugar Free Farm she met nutritionist Angelique Panagos, who helped her improve her overall health by making a few simple changes.

Jane explained that she cut out carbs, including bread, and the only type of bread she eats is one made without yeast.

She explained: “I only bread I eat is one that I’ve got a recipe for from Angelique. It’s got no yeast in it and it’s made with lots of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, wholemeal flour, oats and yoghurt of all things.

“It’s literally 20 minutes and it’s made – ready to put in the oven. I don’t eat a lot of it but when I’m really craving a bit of starch I just get some out of the freezer and stick it in the toaster and it’s done.”

Jane lost 9lbs in just two weeks by following Angelique’s meal plan during the show, and after Sugar Free Farm, she lost “an [additional] stone and a half”.

The TV star admitted that she also cut out sugar and ditched alcohol, cakes, biscuits and other convenience foods completely.

She also doesn’t eat “any white carbs, like white flour or white pasta”, and has a green smoothie every morning.

Jane explained: “I blend up a mixture of raw greens, flax seeds, chia seeds, spinach, kale, mint and a banana. It really is lovely. If I go for about four days without it, I really feel a difference. I think it’s the raw greens that give you loads of energy.”

The “hardest thing”, according to Jane, was not drinking red wine, as alcohol contains a lot of sugar.

Jane added: “I always used to be hungry and was always snacking on something, but I don’t have any of that now. It’s because of a change in my mindset. I used to live to eat, but now I eat to live.”

Seasonsandsuppers shared a quick and easy no-yeast bread recipe, and all you need is butter, buttermilk or milk, and mixed seeds.
