BET Awards watchers have gone online to express their surprise that the network had Keke Palmer be a part of an Usher tribute.
Keke and Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, were both featured in a collection of performances that made up a tribute for R&B singer Usher at the 2024 BET Awards Sunday night.
She, ironically, performed Usher’s hit song ‘You Make Me Wanna…’
The lyrics state: “You make me wanna leave the one I’m with [and] start a new relationship wit’ you, this is what you do.”
While some people enjoyed the show, a lot of viewers shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they didn’t understand BET’s decision to choose Keke for the tribute.
“I need BET to explain the reasoning behind getting Childish Gambino and Keke Palmer to honor Usher,” someone said on the social media platform.
“The math ain’t math’ing!”
“They messy for having KeKe Palmer do this lmaooo,” another person added.
“Keke Palmer and Childish Gambino tributing Usher,” a viewer said.
“BET hates us so much.”
Lots of BET Awards watchers were shocked because of the outrage that stemmed from Keke wearing a black bodysuit under a sheer dress to watch Usher perform at his Las Vegas residency last year.
“Just remembered the Usher and Keke Palmer debacle,” an X user said about the performance she did in honor of Usher.

“Keke Palmer baby daddy somewhere punching the f*****g air,” an individual joked.
She was seen dancing with Usher at his show as he sang to her in a fan video released on Twitter.
In response to the photo, Darius – who shares four-month-old son Leodis Andrellton with Keke – commented on the clip not too happy with what he saw.
“It’s the outfit tho,” he stressed.

In the midst of being slammed online by Keke fans, he added in a separate statement.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” his post stated.
“This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”
Loving the drama, a of people expressed that they’re in support of Keke doing the performance honoring Usher.

While Keke has been in the spotlight since she was a child on Nickelodeon, the father of her son, Darius Jackson is just getting known in the entertainment industry.
He just so happens to be the brother of Sarunas Jackson, who is famous for appearing in Issa Rae’s hit HBO series, Insecure.
The dad is an aspiring actor who has also worked in fitness as an instructor at Inspire Fitness.
