ZAC Efron has been taken to the hospital after a diving accident in Ibiza, Spain.
The High School Musical actor was found inside a swimming pool after hitting the bottom while diving in and had to be pulled out of the water by two people who worked at the villa.
New information has come out about the terrifying incident, according to TMZ.
Zac, 36, attempted to dive into the water but went too deep and hit the bottom of the pool.
He ingested water into his lungs, which is why he was hospitalized.
According to the outlet, the actor had a significant amount of water in his lungs after his chest hit the bottom of the pool following his dive.
He was showing signs of distress and was pulled from the water.
Zac was briefly dazed from the accident and was taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.
A chest x-ray revealed the water had cleared from his lungs and he was cleared for release but stayed at the hospital for a few hours to avoid photographers waiting outside.
The following day, the star was back to his regular activities, including working out.
According to and early report from TMZ, Zac, is “doing fine” following the scary accident.
A rep told the outlet that he was taken to the hospital “as a precaution” after a “minor swimming incident” in Ibiza on Friday night.
Zac was released from the hospital on Saturday morning.
When asked why Zac was taken to the hospital for a minor incident, his rep again reiterated it was purely precautionary, per the outlet.
The rep also didn’t elaborate on what caused him to be in distress in the pool.
He has been photographed in Europe over the past month, including Ibiza, St. Tropez, Mykonos, and Paris.
The actor has been taking some time off after releasing numerous films including Ricky Stanicky, Iron Claw, and A Family Affair.
He’s also preparing to star in the Three Men and a Baby reboot that’s currently in pre-production.
The Iron Claw star was seen hitting the stage with Martin Garrix earlier this week. He looked in good health as he performed with the famed DJ.
VACATION MODE
Earlier this month, Zac and 300 actor Gerard Butler, 54, were seen partying it up with a large group while on their getaway to St. Tropez.
Zac flexed his toned physique while enjoying some time off at the popular vacation destination.
The Baywatch star and Gerard were spotted surrounded by bikini-clad women on a luxury yacht.
One of the women included was Gerard’s girlfriend, Sports Illustrated model Penny Lane, 29.
Fellow model Betsy Alvarez was also on board.
Some photos showed The Ugly Truth star hugging and taking candid photos of his girlfriend as they spent time together.
Prior to the St. Tropez trip, the pair – who have a 25-year age gap – were spotted hanging out in London’s posh Primrose Hill.
Gerard and Zac appeared in good spirits for the boat excursion, soaking up the sun while sipping San Pellegrino sparkling water.
The Firestarter star flaunted his six-pack abs and tanned skin as he partied on the luxury boat and swam in the French waters with his shirt off.
Gerard, on the other hand, opted to keep his T-shirt on while enjoying the tropical outing.
WHO’S THAT?
Zac’s summer vacation comes shortly after his latest movie, A Family Affair, was released on Netflix last month.
In the new film, the actor plays a self-absorbed movie star who falls for Nicole Kidman’s character – the mother of his personal assistant.
While doing press before the movie’s release, many fans called him out for having a completely new appearance.
Zac shared a behind-the-scenes clip from filming, to which some said his face had completely changed.
“Plastic surgery and aging … oh but smoking probably. They can’t fool us,” one person wrote.
“WTF !!!! What happened to your face Zac?” asked a second.
Others defended Zac, noting that the actor underwent major surgery on his face after getting into an accident years ago.
In a 2022 cover story for Men’s Health, Zac revealed that he shattered his jaw while running in his house with socks on, adding that he slipped and hit the corner of a fountain.
When he woke up after passing out, he realized that his chin bone was “hanging off” his face.
The actor claimed that his masseter muscles “compensated” for his injury, growing in size because of it.
Zac previously denied receiving any plastic surgery after online critics questioned his altered appearance.
