Greece holidaymakers have been urged that eight weeks before they are due to fly, they should check one thing according to experts. On the Foreign Office website, the government officials warn tourists that “at least eight weeks before your trip” you should ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest vaccine recommendations and health risks.

As part of their ongoing advice for those travelling to Greece, they state on the gov.uk website that people should check the latest vaccine recommendations for their destination. They further urged people to see where to get vaccines and whether you have to pay on the NHS travel vaccinations page.

Cureently on the travelhealthpro websiite, the experts warn holidaymakers those flying should be up-to-date with routine vaccination courses and boosters as recommended in the UK. These vaccinations include for example measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-polio vaccine.

Where health risks are concerned, the travel experts add that there are five things people need to be aware of which you can read about here. This includes:

  • Altitude

  • Biting insects or ticks

  • Influenza

  • Outdoor air quality

  • Tick-borne encephalitis

In an emergency, you should dial 112 or 166 and ask for an ambulance. You should also contact your insurance or medical assistance company quickly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment, the Foreign Office warns.
