Shedding pounds can seem like a Herculean task, but it’s often our own mental hurdles that prevent us from reaching our desired goals and aspirations.

TikTok sensation Liza, known as @lizamarie_fit, has become an inspiration after revealing she “lost 100lbs at home” urging her followers with the advice: “If you wanna lose weight and you don’t know where to start, listen to this.”

She proudly announced her journey to shedding 100lbs was accomplished “in one year”. She managed to lose the weight without stepping foot in a gym, showcasing her transformation with before and after snaps – a staggering total loss of 140lbs.

Emphasising the effectiveness of her method, Liza declared: “I want you to know that the power of walking is so strong. I want you to know that walking is the number one thing that helped me to lose the weight.”

She reflected on past attempts where she expected “immediate results” and “overcomplicated everything”, which led to no visible changes. However, walking “completely changed her life and her body”.

She detailed her routine, saying “every single night” she embarked on walks lasting from 20 minutes to 30 minutes, and “sometimes an hour” when she felt up to it, sticking to this for two months.

After purchasing an Apple Watch, she began tracking her steps, aiming for 10,000 daily. Then in just three months, Liza recounted losing between 30-40lbs. During this period, she “also cut out fast food” which contributed significantly to her weight loss.

Next she wanted to take things up a notch and did two or three at-home workouts a week. Now she wants to “prove to women you don’t need a crazy [expensive] gym membership” to see results.

She praised “consistency and nutrition” as the keys to success. Then, when she was 80lbs down, she wanted to track her calories more, and began to properly eat in a calorie deficit.

“I got my gym membership after I lost 100lbs,” she shared: “I turned all of these things into my lifestyle by not doing them all at once and doing them one step at a time.

“You can change your life in any moment, you can lose weight at home, you do not need to do anything crazy to lose the weight.”

According to the NHS, you need energy from calories for your body to work properly as it uses this energy to function properly.

As a guide, it stated:

  • An average man needs 2,500kcal a day
  • An average woman needs 2,000kcal a day

This could be different based on your:

  • Age
  • Weight
  • Height
  • How much exercise you do
