LEGENDARY music producer Quincy Jones has died aged 91.
The star lived an incredible life, which included being married to the late Peggy Lipton.
Born Margaret Ann Lipton on August 30, 1946, in New York City, Peggy was an American model, actress, and singer.
She shot to fame in the 1960s and was best known for playing Julie Barnes in the crime drama The Mod Squad (1968 to 1973).
The role was so popular that she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama in 1970.
Peggy was also known for starring in David Lynch’s cult classic, Twin Peaks in the 70s.
Married with children
Peggy married musician and superstar producer Quincy Jones in 1974.
When they wed she took a break from acting to concentrate on her family.
The couple had two daughters, who have both became successful in their own right.
Their eldest child, Kidada, is a fashion designer who has worked for Tommy Hilfiger and Disney.
While her younger sister Rashida is an actress who is best known for Parks and Recreations.
Their parents separated in 1986, and divorced in 1990.
Despite their split, Peggy and Quincy continued to have a strong relationship.
Speaking in 2018, their daughter Rashida told EW: “My mom is so empathetic towards my dad, but it also was incredibly raw for her to go through what she went through and admit that the relationship didn’t work out.
“But because they still know and love each other, I think that really helped.”
Cancer battle
After being diagnosed in 2004, Peggy died of colon cancer in her Los Angeles home on May 11, 2019, at the age of 72.
“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” the Jones sisters said in a statement.
“We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”
Paying tribute
Following the news of Peggy death, Quincy penned an emotional tribute to his ex-wife.
Posting on X/Twitter, he wrote: “There is absolutely no combination of words that can express the sadness I feel after losing my beloved Peggy Lipton… My wife of 14 years.
“We shared many, many beautiful memories, and most importantly, we share two incredible daughters… Pie (Kidada) and Doonkie (Rashida).”
“Regardless of the paths that our lives took us on, I can say with the utmost certainty, that love is eternal,”
Quincey passes away
On November 3, 2024, Quincy passed away at the age of 91.
His publicist, Arnold Robinson, confirmed his death at the Los Angeles family home, surrounded by loved ones.
In a statement, his family said: “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing.
“And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”
