Jennifer Aniston, the beloved Friends star, reportedly includes salads in her health regimen to maintain her stunning physique. Interestingly though, it’s not lettuce that takes centre stage in her dish.

Quinoa, a staple of the Mediterranean diet, is an excellent source of plant-based protein and is considered a complete protein as it contains all nine essential amino acids. This gluten-free grain is also high in fibre and packed with vitamins and minerals, making it particularly beneficial for those following vegetarian or vegan diets, according to the Mirror.

One of the reasons why quinoa is popular among those aiming to lose weight and stay fit is its high protein content, which helps suppress hunger hormones and prevent unnecessary snacking. Studies suggest that quinoa’s significant fibre content (around 2.8g per 100g when cooked) aids in weight management, digestion, and gut health.

It’s also rich in vitamins A and B2, which are good for the skin, eyes, and nervous system, potentially reducing fine lines and promoting a youthful glow. Riboflavin in quinoa improves skin elasticity and can be helpful for those with acne-prone skin.

Furthermore, due to its low glycemic index, quinoa doesn’t cause major spikes in blood sugar levels, making it an excellent choice for diabetics, reports the Daily Record.

Quinoa, a grain that’s packed with iron, is a fantastic way to fight off iron-deficiency anaemia. It’s also brimming with antioxidants that bolster heart health and safeguard various organs.

The grain offers a decent amount of omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for your heart. Moreover, quinoa is a treasure trove of nutrients, including folate, manganese, thiamine, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.

Despite being slightly more expensive than other grains, it can be readily found in the supermarket next to other grains and rice options.
