Melania Trump has opened up about her very particular diet tastes while reflecting on her previous stint as first lady. The 54-year-old, set to return to the White House once more, shared her thoughts in memoir ‘Melania’ released just weeks before the US election.

“I made it known that I do not eat raw fish,” she wrote, as per a MailOnline report. “However, I still made an effort to try local cuisine whenever possible. That night in Tokyo, the meal was a delicious blend of flavours and textures, showcasing the best of Japanese cuisines while accommodating my preferences.”

Melania is referring to a luxurious six-course dinner served during a state visit to Japan with Donald Trump in 2019. Hosted at Tokyo’s Imperial Palace, the couple enjoyed ‘cote de boeuf rotie’, ‘glace mont fuji’ and various other exquisite foods.

During the same visit, they also indulged in a wagyu beef steak dinner with former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie Abe. Sushi, sashami and makizushi – all containing raw fish – were off the table.

The 54-year-old’s memoir came less than a month before Donald Trump declared victory in the US presidential election for the second time. Now, he is due to become the nation’s 47th president.

However, a source recently told People magazine that Melania has conflicting feelings about taking on the role of first lady again. It’s claimed that she’s now accustomed to a more private life and isn’t likely to make the White House her main residence.

“As much as Melania loves Mar-a-Lago and her life in Palm Beach, she will spend more time in New York with her son, who is more important to her than anything else,” the source reportedly said. “If her husband is elected, she will attend the White House functions that she is asked to attend just as she always has. Melania knows what to do, yet has a mind of her own.”
