WENDY Williams’ ex Kevin Hunter filed a complaint about her guardian with the Grievance Committee alleging she was “practicing law without a license” in his divorce from his famous spouse.

In documents exclusively obtained by The U.S. Sun, Kevin took issue with Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, for her conduct in a New Jersey divorce court.

The complaint filed by Kevin in October alleged Wendy’s New York guardian had presented herself to the Jersey court “as a ‘pro se’ litigant in my Motion to Enforce Litigants Rights Case in New Jersey.”

“Ms. Morrissey is not and has not been legally appointed as Guardian of my ex-wife in New Jersey, yet Ms. Morrissey has filed motions, cross motions, and responses to motions, as well as testified in court in a jurisdiction that she has no legal standing.

“Ms. Morrissey is practicing law without a license in the State of New Jersey,” Kevin alleged.

In response, Wendy’s guardian shot back explaining she was “appointed Temporary Guardian for [Wendy] by Hon. Lisa A. Sokoloff in Supreme Court, New York County.”

“I thereafter appeared pro se in place of [Wendy] in New Jersey litigation brought by Mr. Hunter to collect payment from [Wendy] in their previously settled divorce proceeding.”

Sabrina then claimed, “I have never appeared as an attorney in any Court for my ward, Wendy Williams Hunter.”

Sabrina cited a New Jersey Court Rule that stated, “A person not qualifying to practice pursuant to the first paragraph of this rule shall nonetheless be permitted to appear and prosecute or defend an action in any court of this State if the person (1) is a real party of interest of the action or the guardian of the party.

She argued, “Without question, based on the statute, the guardian of a party is authorized to appear in a proceeding in New Jersey, in place of her ward.”

Sabrina then took on the issue that Kevin brought up pertaining to her being Wendy’s guardian in New York, and not in New Jersey where their divorce case is held.

“On the second issue raised by Mr. Hunter… [he] argued that [Wendy’s] guardianship should be transferred from New York to New Jersey.

WHO CAN REPRESENT WENDY?

Wendy was placed under a guardianship in March of 2022.

Back in 2022, the Wendy Williams Show host’s bank, Wells Fargo, petitioned a New York court to hold a guardianship hearing for the star.

In their petition, the bank cited concerns that Wendy was “the victim of undue influence, dementia, and financial exploitation.”

In March of 2022, Wendy was placed under guardianship in New York.

New York attorney, Sabrina Morrissey, was named temporary guardian of the star.

During this time, Wendy was also absent from her wildly popular eponymous daytime talk show for the entirety of its final season.

When Wells Fargo froze her accounts as they petitioned for a guardianship for Wendy, Kevin Sr. claimed he ceased receiving payments from their marital settlement agreement.

Kevin Sr. has been fighting to get the payments to resume in a New Jersey court, but he has also pushed to see Wendy’s financial records in recent years, which he says the star’s guardian has refused to turn over.

“Under no circumstances would the guardianship be transferred to New Jersey, unless WWH moves there.”

Sabrina then admitted that after Kevin took up the issue of her right to represent Wendy in New Jersey during court proceedings that she “registered the guardianship with the Surrogate of Essex County,” and then finally hired a New Jersey attorney to handle the divorce matter on Wendy’s behalf.

FAST ACT

In court filings previously revealed by The U.S. Sun, Wendy’s ex petitioned their divorce court to have the star’s guardian removed from the hearings, as he claimed she is not legally allowed to represent the star in New Jersey.

At the time, Wendy’s guardian had 21 days to prove she was authorized to represent the former talk show host in the Garden State.

Sabrina in turn, submitted her newly registered guardianship with New Jersey’s Essex County just under the deadline.
