Sir Jackie Stewart competed in Formula One between 1965 and 1973 for Scotland and his achievements have cemented his reputation ever since. However, Sir Jackie has made inroads into another area recently – dementia. His wife Helen was diagnosed with the degenerative condition back in 2014.

As Sir Jackie pointed out, although his story is personal, it is one that reverberates through society at large.

“One in three people born today will get dementia,” he reported.

This is why it is paramount that we find a cure to enable families to continue to “live as a family unit”, Sir Jackie added.

The F1 legend has been vocal about his wife’s battle with dementia over the years.
