Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa (68) passed away after failing to recover from a cardiac arrest.

The 68-year-old suffered a massive cardiac arrest on December 4th at Apollo Hospitals where she was admitted on September 22 with fever and dehydration.

After her cardiac arrest, she was administered resuscitation (CPR) and ECMO (extra corporeal membrane heart assist device) support within the hour.

‘Apollo Hospitals announced that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa passed away at 11.30 pm on December 5th. ’


“It is with indescribable grief, we announce the sad demise of our esteemed Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchi Thalaivi Amma at 11.30 pm today,” Apollo Hospitals said in a statement.
