Lisa Snowdon has spoken out on her 30-year battle with depression, admitting she’s had to work hard on herself for a long time to find peace.

The television presenter, 49, has tried a number of different ways to find balance since her teens and says she is finally letting go of the baggage that her back.

She told the October issue of Platinum magazine: ‘It’s been a journey for the last 30 years — different therapies, different treatments, different wellness retreats, different meditation.

‘This is hard work that I’ve done on myself for a long time and I’m just finally getting to an age where I’ve got some self-acceptance and I’m feeling at peace, no longer angry and letting go of a lot of that hurt, anger and pain that you bury when you’re younger.’

Lisa, who is engaged to fiancé George Smart, 41, will turn 50 next January, and she says it’s her relationship with herself that has taught her the most over the years.

She explained: ‘You’re living with your head for the rest of your life, so make sure that’s a really nice place to live.

‘Find out why you do the things you do, the way you think, the way you react, what pushes your buttons, learning about myself has been hugely empowering.’

Lisa explained how she believes hitting rock bottom in her life enabled her to rise back up and gain inner strength.

The broadcaster says she doesn’t regret her past and now has tools to cope with life that she didn’t have in her younger years.

And the star is looking forward to growing older, recently telling MailOnline that she sees turning 50 as a ‘privilege’.

She said: ‘It seems like such a grownup age! I’m going to be 50, I mean who would have thought it? It’s gone so quickly.

‘I remember organising my 40th and having these conversations like “you’re going to be 40, what do you think?” and now I’m already 50!

‘I do feel positively about it, which I don’t know if people will be like “yeah, whatever” but I really do. I know it’s a cliché to say getting older is a privilege but it really is.

‘I’m not worried, I don’t see it as this looming number or deadline I just feel like I’m finally in a good place, the last six years I’ve felt really content and happy and I’m really taking care of myself so I feel mentally in a really good place as well as physically and emotionally.

‘George and I are really happy and I’ve got some lovely friends and great family so bring it on! As long as I don’t have to act grown up and be sensible then that’s the only thing.’
