Thomas died as a result of medical complications from a vehicle accident in 2019, according to KOA Broncos reporter Benjamin Allbright. He died in his home state of Georgia, where he had been hesitant to travel recently due to the lingering complications.

Allbright said Thomas was generous with his time and “always wanted to give back with everything he did,” including working with children. “He said multiple times while playing for the Broncos that he was so fortunate and blessed that he wanted to make sure everybody else had a blessed life,” Allbright said. He was a mentor to other players and welcomed newcomers to the league, according to Allbright.
