After he matriculated from high school, 18-year old Jim moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he continued his college ice hockey career. However, later he became passionate about aviation, and in the early 1980s he gained his flying license, quickly moving his focus from the ice rink to aircraft. This decision soon began to impact heavily on Tweto’s life as well as his net worth.

Although he had flying license, Jim didn’t dive into the world of aviation immediately, but moved to Unalakleet where he launched his own fishing boat manufacturing business named Gussik Ventures. However, in 1984 Jim completely shifted to flying, and after several years, in 1990, alongside his colleague Mike Hageland, he co-founded Hageland Aviation. All these successful business enterprises have helped Jim Tweto to dramatically increase the total of his net worth.

However, to greater prominence Jim came in 2011, when he and his family was cast for the TV documentary series “Flying Wild Alaska”, which aired on Discovery Channel for three seasons ’til 2012. It is certain that this involvement helped Jim Tweto to significantly boost not only his popularity but his wealth as well.

When it comes to his personal life, Jim has been married since 1988 to Ferno, who apart being a station manager at Era Alaska, is also the mother of their two children. Jim’s daughters, Ayla and Ariel, both followed their father’s footsteps, and gained their flying licenses. In his now over three decades long flying career, with around 30,000 hours of flying, Jim suffered only one accident when in 2007 he broke his neck.
