Who is Akua Reindorf ?
A part-time judge who accused Stonewall of misrepresenting the law is in the running to work for the nation’s equality watchdog.
Akua Reindorf, who accused the LGBTQ + charity of failing to defend freedom of expression when the University of Essex removed two speakers accused of transphobia, was invited to serve on the board of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) .
She suggested that the university reconsider its ties to the group and received fierce criticism from transgender activists.

But others argue that giving him a seat on the board would help guarantee freedom of expression for everyone in the country.
A Whitehall source claimed that Ms Reindorf has a “record of fighting discrimination,” according to The Telegraph.
His appointment is believed to have been granted by ECHR Commissioner, Foreign Secretary and Equality Minister Liz Truss, and will be announced in the coming days.
Reindorf, who is also a lawyer, conducted a review after the University of Essex failed to invite two female professors to speak in 2019 and 2020.

It found that, according to the university’s policy on supporting trans and non-binary staff, a letter on trans issues signed by faculty could “amount to or lead to unlawful harassment,” according to The Telegraph.
Ms Reindorf wrote: ‘This policy is based on a misunderstanding of the law.
Stonewall annually reviews the policy, and their incorrect summary of the law does not appear to have been picked up by them. In my opinion, politics establishes the law as Stonewall would prefer it to be, rather than the law as it is. ”
Stonewall insisted that his advice was based on the guidance of the EHRC, which had been reaffirmed by the Superior Court.

Freedom of Information
It comes after the organization convinced the Scottish civil service to remove the word “mother” from its maternity leave policy in October last year.
Documents released under the Freedom of Information laws revealed how Leslie Evans, the permanent secretary, agreed to make the change in an attempt to scale the lobby’s controversial Workplace Equality Index.
Stonewall asks ministers to remove “gender” words from official policies as part of their advice to be more LGBT-friendly.
And in June, a former hospital chief accused the NHS of putting patients at risk by subscribing to Stonewall’s controversial Champions of Diversity scheme.
Over 90 healthcare organizations are understood to be members of the charity’s controversial program, including the Department of Health, NHS England, and numerous hospital trusts.
Ms Grimes accused Stonewall of “undermining”
But Kate Grimes, the former executive director of Kingston Hospital in southwest London, has joined a growing chorus calling on organizations to back out of the Stonewall plan.
In an article for Health Service Journal, she wrote: “I believe that working with Stonewall is no longer compatible with the values of the NHS and puts the reputation of the NHS and the safety of our patients and staff at risk.”
Ms Grimes accused Stonewall of “undermining” the NHS’s ability to keep patients safe, “stifling” freedom of expression and creating a “culture of fear” among some NHS staff.
And she cautioned that some councils run the risk of “opening up NHS organizations to litigation and reputational damage.”
