Alicia Witt is mourning the loss of her parents.
On Monday, Witt’s parents, Robert Witt, 87, and Diane Witt, 75, were found dead inside her Massachusetts home by police, according to the Associated Press.
According to the publication, the actress had not heard from her parents in several days and she asked a relative to give them a wellness check.
Statement
“After not hearing from my parents for several days, I contacted a cousin who lives near my parents to see how they were doing,” Witt said in a statement, obtained by PEOPLE. “Sadly, the result was unimaginable. I ask for a little privacy at this time to mourn and understand this turn of events and this surreal loss.”
According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, police have yet to confirm causes of death, but said there were no signs of trauma or foul play. The deaths are not considered suspicious.

Additionally, according to the Telegram and Gazette, police said Robert and Diane had had problems with the oven and were using a space heater, but fire officials said there was no sign of carbon monoxide in the home.
A neighbor told the Gazette that the couple were rarely seen outside the house and that she believed they had been ill for some time. In addition, the neighbor said that many other neighbors had offered to help them with the garden work, but the couple refused.
