Pedal Power Pays Off

Mountain biking is one the fastest growing recreation activities in the world. But it is often perceived to be a dangerous sport and its health benefits are rarely talked about. Surprisingly, a new study has revealed that the health benefits of mountain biking outweigh the risks.
Researchers from Curtin’s School of Nursing analysed data from dozens of studies across the world, encompassing thousands of injured mountain bikers and hikers. Contrary to the common perception that mountain biking is an ‘extreme’ sport, they found that most reported injuries were of low severity.
