Fall is slowly rolling in and that means the holidays are coming in faster than you think. Many retailers are starting to offer early holiday deals including Amazon with it’s Prime Big Deal Days. Here are answers to any burning questions you may have about the sale event and the best early Amazon Prime Day deals of 2023 we’re seeing now.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2023?

The first Prime Day event of 2023 took place from Tuesday, July 11 to Wednesday, July 12—and the second of the year starts at midnight P.T. on Tuesday, October 10, and will run through midnight P.T. on Wednesday, October 11.

What’s Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a massive two-day shopping event held exclusively for Prime members. During the sale event, you’ll find deep discounts on products across all categories, including some of the lowest prices outside of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, Prime Day ran primarily in the summer, but in October 2022, Amazon added a second event called the Prime Early Access Sale.

This year, Amazon is officially calling its October sale “Prime Big Deal Days,” but it’s informally known as “Prime Day” or “Prime Day Part Two.”

What should I expect to see on sale during Prime Day?

With the holidays around the corner, it’s likely you’ll see Prime Day discounts on some great Amazon gift ideas. During July’s sale days, we saw fitness deals for NordicTrack treadmills and Hoka sneakers; tech deals on gadgets like Apple Watches, Sony QLED TVs, Bluetooth speakers, and Samsung Galaxy phones; kitchen and home deals, including Casper mattresses, iRobot Roomba robot vacuums, KitchenAids, Vitamix blenders, and Keurig coffee makers; and even beauty and skin-care deals on Crest Whitestrips, Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, and the NuFace Mini. Amazon offers great discounts on its own suite of products, as well, including Alexa-enabled Echo smart home devices, Ring video doorbells, SELF Fave Kindle e-readers, and Fire TV streaming sticks.

In addition to Amazon’s impressive discounts, there are all sorts of excellent Prime Day competitor deals from retailers like Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, and Best Buy. So, if you’ve put off purchasing Apple AirPods Pro, a Ninja air fryer, or a Fitbit, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better time to snag these sought-after goods. (Between us, Prime Day is also when you’ll see some of the best prices on staples like toilet paper, dog and cat food, Kleenex, protein powder, batteries, printer cartridges, trash bags, light bulbs, and more.)

Do I need to be a Prime member to save on these deals?

Yes! The markdowns are a major perk of Amazon’s Prime membership—in addition to free one- to two-day shipping. Not subscribed but still want to save? Sign up for a 30-day free trial, and you’re good to go (plus, you’ll gain access to Prime Video content).

What are the best early Prime Day deals?

Prime Day is often pure mayhem. There are easy-to-miss “Lightning Deals” starting and stopping at all hours — and sometimes, supplies and sizes run out before you have the chance to check out. Real pros know that ahead of the sales event, there are already some early Prime Day markdowns worth considering—and purchasing, if you want to avoid chaos (or are an impatient person).

We’ll update this page (and many others) throughout October 12. In the meantime, here are some of the best Amazon Prime Day deals you can shop now—including 35% off an iRobot Roomba robot vacuum; 20% off Bose noise-cancelling headphones; 25% off a Macbook Air; 20% off a SELF Fave Dyson vacuum; 20% off a SELF Fave Oral-B electric toothbrush; and 30% off a set of SELF Home Fitness Award–winning Bowflex adjustable dumbbells.
