The liberal comedian and host of the eponymous Real Time With Bill Maher told his audience Friday night that although he considered President Joe Biden’s place on the Democratic ticket for the president in 2024 to be a done deal, he could “see” dumping Vice President Kamala Harris. The audience erupted in applause, showing that even the Left doesn’t think she has what it takes.
The surprising moment occurred while he was hosting a panel with Atlantic staff writer Caitlin Flanagan and CNN “Whitelash” commentator Van Jones. They spent most of the segment trying to put lipstick on a pig—meaning that they were waxing poetic about Biden’s accomplishments even as we witness historic inflation, a disastrous stock market, and a looming war with Russia—but then Maher dropped this bombshell:

“What I could see is replacing the vice president,” Maher said. “Because she’s just not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work out. And, I don’t know, that’s been done before on a ticket….”
“I just think she’s a bad politician, I think she’s a very bright person, but I don’t know—I can see them doing that because a lot of the problem with ‘Biden being old’ is—oh, if he dies, then you’re going to get this person.” [Emphasis mine.]
Kamala Harris has been a historically bad vice president who is just as prone to gaffes as the much-older Joe Biden. Just Thursday, she visited the DMZ between North and South Korea to give a shout-out to our alliance with NORTH Korea. What’s even worse than the fact that she said it is that she didn’t even notice that she had made such an unbelievable gaffe on the world stage.
We all misspeak, but usually, we catch it when we screw up that badly. On Friday, meanwhile, she suggested we should dole out relief for Hurricane Ian based on race. Outrageous.
Harris’ inappropriate cackles, meanwhile, have become the stuff of legend. Even panelist Caitlin Flanagan admitted on the segment that Harris is “for some reason, an off-putting person. She also has, I think, a lot of baggage that probably wouldn’t do well under a lot of scrutiny.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m no Bill Maher disciple. He has said some truly awful things in the past, including opining just six days after 9/11 that the attackers were “not cowardly,” that sex between adults and minors might be all “in the name of love”, that he wouldn’t “work in the fields” like a “house n—a,” that he would welcome an economic collapse if it would ensure Trump wasn’t re-elected, and so on. For a list of his biggest controversies, click here.
In recent years, though Maher has said many things that actually make sense. For example, he recently leveled Leftist director Rob Reiner over the widespread censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story (Reiner was blissfully unaware of the controversy because he rarely steps out of his liberal bubble.)
One thing is clear: if even liberals are saying the quiet part out loud about Kamala Harris’ unlikeability and inability to do a competent job, there’s trouble ahead for the Democrat 2024 ticket. Although gambling sites haven’t yet set odds on whether or not Kamala will be aboard in ’24, I’m guessing they soon might.
Even liberals are now openly admitting that they’ve got a flop on their hands. My bet: she gets an ambassadorship or other plum post and quietly rides off into the sunset.
