  1. Growing up, he enjoyed both the lyrical and musical aspects of hip hop.
  2. Along with his friends, Blockhead formed a group called the Overground and started making music during his teen years.
  3. He first met rapper and producer Aesop Rock while attending Boston University.
  4. Blockhead has been a member of the hip-hop group named Party Fun Action Committee. The group released its first studio album titled Let’s Get Serious on July 1, 2003, through Definitive Jux. Los Angeles Times named the album one of the most seminal releases from Definitive Jux, calling it “the gold standard of comedy rap records”.
  5. On March 23, 2004, he released his debut solo studio album titled Music by Cavelight and it included songs like Breathe and StartInsomniac OlympicsJet SonA Better PlaceYou’ve Got Maelstrom, and Sunday Seance. The album was ranked at number #43 on the UK Independent Albums (OCC) chart.
  6. He has stated that his stage name comes from the shape of his head: “While it’s not square, it’s pretty close.”
  7. Blockhead’s 4th solo studio album The Music Scene was released on November 2, 2009, and Rick Anderson of AllMusic stated: “Everyone makes sample-based music these days, but very few people use found sounds and prefab musical snippets as creatively and thoughtfully as Blockhead does.”
