Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has been admitted to George Washington University Hospital for observation after he reported “feeling lightheaded” Wednesday night during a retreat for Senate Democrats that was being held in Washington, D.C.
Fetterman, who suffered a severe stroke on May 13, 2022, left the meeting when he felt lightheaded and called a staffer, who picked him up and drove him to the hospital. According to a statement from Fetterman’s office, “initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation.”

Fetterman’s stroke recovery and the potential for another stroke and unresolved injuries from the first stroke were big topics during the Senate campaign. Fetterman’s campaign steadfastly insisted that his health was not an issue, even as it was clear in the debate and in media interviews that his language processing ability was greatly affected. His wife, Gisele, even urged “consequences” for an NBC News reporter who dared ask questions about his recovery.
