Britney Spears brings back iconic Versace dress 22 years later with big change after Blake Lively wore it on red carpet

BRITNEY Spears has decided to bring back her memorable Versace dress from 2002, however, this time with a key update.

The iconic outfit has fans buzzing again after actress Blake Lively wore it at the It Ends With Us premiere.

Britney, 42, took to Instagram to share a brief clip of herself wearing the Versace dress, but this time around the once-full-length gown was now noticeably shorter.

The famous hitmaker was feeling herself in the clip as she smiled and tossed her long, blonde hair to the side while giving fans a look at her dress.

“Updated version of my 2002 Versace dress,” Britney wrote in the caption.

“I’m no Blake Lively, but I like it… show my legs,” she added.

The dress, which Britney wore at the Versace Spring runway show in Milan back in 2002, made its way back into the discussion after Blake, 36, rocked it at the New York City premiere of It Ends with Us.

“It is Britney’s actual dress,” the Gossip Girl alum told People while on the red carpet.

Blake was all about the princess of pop’s dress, as she gushed about the look, telling the outlet, “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met,” but added that instead “It’s on me. I feel so lucky!”

The Hollywood star, who is married to Ryan Reynolds, also took to her Instagram Stories to pay tribute to the legendary performer.

“Todays mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories,” she stated.

Blake also gave Britney credit, as she “made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work.”

“Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories,” Blake wrote in the sweet message.

INFIGHTING ON SET

While promoting the new film, Blake and the rest of the It Ends With Us cast have excluded Justin Baldoni from press interviews and red-carpet appearances.

They even unfollowed him on social media, but he still follows them.

Fans noticed the film’s male lead Justin, 40, had been left out and went to TikTok to put together clues as to what caused the riff.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that “there was a fracture among the filmmakers in the post-production process, wherein two different cuts of the movie emerged.”

Justin directed and starred in the film and Blake was the main star and produced it.

Blake even brought in her husband, Ryan, to write a key scene at the beginning of the movie.

“We help each other. He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his,” she told E! News.

Ryan wrote a good amount of dialogue for the rooftop scene, despite It Ends With Us having a script by Christy Hall.

However, insiders told the outlet that he didn’t write the whole scene.

With Blake being a producer on the film, she had a lot of say in its creative direction, allowing the star to make her own version of the movie.

Sources told THR that Blake “commissioned a cut of the movie from editor Shane Reid, who was an editor on Deadpool & Wolverine, and who cut the Lively-directed music video for Taylor Swift’s I Bet You Think About Me.”

However, it is not clear if her cut was the final one used, which was edited by Oona Flaherty and Robb Sullivan.

An insider “played down” the rumors of the friction and said it is normal to have multiple cuts of a movie, with the team in agreement with the final cut.

In a report by DailyMail uploaded on Friday, insiders have revealed more information on what happened during the filming period.

A source told the news outlet about his alleged approach to sensitive subjects such as domestic violence.

The movie based on Colleen Hoover’s hit book follows Lily Bloom, played by Blake, a florist who falls in love with a neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid.

While dating, their relationship got toxic and depicted domestic violence.

The insider said, “During scenes depicting abuse, Justin failed to consider Blake’s character’s perspective, instead focusing solely on what he believed was the abusive male viewpoint.

“His approach was very chauvinistic, creating a tense atmosphere on set.

“Directing a film so serious and so important about domestic abuse without allowing the women to be included in this process is disturbing.”

The source also claimed that Justin “failed to recognize” Blake and Colleen’s roles on set.

They were both producers and writers.

The source also alleged that Justin took their requests for re-writes “very personally.”

The insider said, “Without Colleen’s book, none of this would have been possible.

“Parts of the film were rewritten under the instruction of Colleen – they had to be.

“He took their script decisions very personally, even though they weren’t intended that way.”
