Many Brits like to start their day with a coffee.
Whether having a cuppa with breakfast, grabbing one on the way to work or filling your flask up for the day – it’s often considered a great way to perk yourself up in the morning.
But, if you’re trying to lose weight, it turns out you may want to add a simple ingredient to your brew. That’s because it can help you burn fat throughout the day.
Videos are going viral on TikTok about the so-called “weight loss” coffee that you need to drink for a week to see results. It’s claimed it can help reduce bloating too.
According to a clip shared by @motivafithub, all you need to do is add one teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of cocoa powder to your brew. The spice will work its fat-burning magic, while the cocoa will help to balance the flavour with a little sweetness.
Since it was shared, the video has gained a lot of attention, and several people were quick to comment too. Obviously, it was pointed out that you also need to follow a healthy diet to see results.
One person said: “So a cafe mocha with cinnamon and no cream!” Another added: “So cinnamon, cocoa and any coffee will burn fat? Morning or evening?”
The content creator then replied to let people know it should be consumed during the morning before you eat anything. People also thanked them for providing the ingredients, and explaining how to make it so effortlessly.
What’s more, the theory has also been backed up by medics! Dr Taz, a board certified medical doctor, integrative health expert and best selling author, also supports the claim.
She admits that adding certain things to your coffee can boost metabolism and aid weight loss. On her website, she explains exactly how it works.
Dr Taz explained: “Adding cinnamon to your morning cup can help reduce hyperglycemia, increase fat burning and decrease inflammation. All of these are incredibly beneficial to speed up your metabolism and help with weight loss.
“Cinnamon is a great addition to any herbal, green, or black tea, as well as coffee.”
She also notes that coconut oil is another great addition to aid health. This is because it contains a high ratio of medium chain fatty acids (MCTs), which she describes as a “special kind of fat” that your body metabolises differently.
These have also been shown to boost metabolism.
