According to the journalist, Ada Merlano had personal affective contact with Julio Gerlein, well-known in Barranquilla, and that this bond broke the political house.

Roberto Gerlein, a conservative politician, died on Thursday in the intensive care unit at the Clinica del Caribe, a well-known clinic north of Barranquilla.
After attending a health center due to a deteriorating urinary tract infection, the former congressman died at 83.
Gerlein is a labor law expert and a graduate of the Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. He is a senator for the Republic and a member of the Conservative Party.

He is also the governor of the department of Atlántico and a member of the Colombian House of Representatives for the same.
Gerlein’s voice has always carried weight and recognition in congressional debates, particularly on budget and resource allocation concerns along the Caribbean coast.
