JESSE Metcalfe says he’s open to settling down and getting married in his 50s after years as a bachelor in Hollywood.
The 45-year-old actor, who shot to fame as a TV heartthrob on Desperate Housewives, has now found love with singer and real estate agent, Helene Immel.
The couple went Instagram official in December when Immel posted a photo of them together on Jesse’s birthday, and have been seen on several occasions since.
Jesse has never been married but was once engaged to actress Cara Santana, whom he split from in January 2020.
The U.S. Sun caught up with the star at Boohoo’s Collective’s launch party in Los Angeles, and he revealed he has thought about marriage down the line.
“I’m loved up at the minute,” he said of his relationship with Immel.
Asked if he’s the marrying type, he laughed, “It doesn’t appear so does it? I mean, I definitely don’t subscribe to those conventions.
“I’m going to do what I want to do and I’m not gonna fall prey into societal expectations and pressures.
“I don’t really care what other people think, but I do want to get married and start a family at some stage, I’m thinking 50 is a good age.”
He agreed it worked for George Clooney, who tied the knot with his wife, human rights lawyer, Amal, in 2014 at the age 53, before later welcoming twins.
BEAUTIFUL COUPLE
Jesse was last seen with his new love last month in photographs on her Instagram account, showing them in an intimate embrace while watching Kings of Leon live in concert.
One friend commented underneath, “Beautiful couple.”
Jesse and Immel also posed on the red carpet together at the premiere of the TV show Ripley in Los Angeles back in April.
Jesse has dated several beautiful well-known women over the years, including British Girls Aloud singer, Nadine Coyle.
Aside from love, the star has plenty going on with new acting roles and said his main passion is “storytelling,” while he’s also hoping to release an EP at some point.
He recently finished a horror movie, The Possession of Gladstone Manor, and feels Hollywood is getting back to its best after many difficult years.
“I think the biggest change is technology, AI, and we’re just getting out of a very challenging time with the writers strike and the actors strike, and how the studios have responded to that.
“But I think that the future is bright. I think Hollywood is going to start picking up again and getting back to where it was before the pandemic.”
Asked what his hopes are for the next year, he replied, “Maybe get back on TV. But I also want to be a producer.
“I want to work behind the camera, tell compelling stories, help young actors achieve their dreams.”
STAYING GROUNDED
During his chat with The U.S. Sun, he also admitted he “veered off path” after starring alongside Eva Longoria as a teenage gardener John Rowland in the mid-2000s.
He said it had been “a wild ride,” adding that he had his “fair share” of scandal in his younger years but has since “matured.”
He explained, “I have a really amazing mother who raised me right and filled me with confidence and good values. I veered off the path, but I made my way back.
“I think the most damaging trappings of Hollywood is putting your entire self-worth in the hands of the gatekeepers of this industry because if you do that and you have a lull in your career, it can totally destroy you.
“And you see it a lot, actors that maybe made it when they were young, and have since gotten older, maybe they aren’t the new hot thing anymore, and it’s hard to deal with.
“You know, they have substance abuse problems, mental health problems. You gotta stay grounded and you gotta surround yourself with good people.”
Jesse said he thinks fondly of his time on Desperate Housewives, adding, “I always think it comes off a little pretentious when you’re embarrassed about your early work.”
He also joked he thinks he “looks better” now than in his days playing Eva’s attractive young lover.
