On February 28, 1998, Quirke was born in Rossmore, County Tipperary, Ireland. He was an Irish hurler who represented Clonoulty-Rossmore in the intercounty Tipperary Senior Hurling Team and Tipperary Senior Championship.
His father, Dan Quirke, competed in the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship and won an All-Ireland medal at the under-21 level, so he came from a sporting family.
