A divorced mum-of-four who lost all her confidence during her 34-year marriage and a special needs teacher who has struggled with depression since being a teenager were unrecognisable after breathtaking makeovers in Channel 5’s 10 Years Younger in 10 Days, which aired last night.
Zohrah, 58, from Yorkshire, aged badly after only getting four hours sleep a night while doing long shifts as a careworker, raising four children and taking care of the home.
But after leaving her husband, she decided to grab life with both hands and with the help of the Channel 5 show met with a cosmetic dentist, and a skin specialist, as well as top hairdresser and stylist.
Before her makeover, a public poll put Zohrah’s age at 67, with people pointing out that she looks ‘stressed out’ and had ‘tired skin’ and ‘sunken eyes’, but thanks to the help of the team after her makeover a second poll guessed her to be 49.
Viewers were impressed by the transformations on the show, describing it as such an ‘uplifting watch’, while another admitted she was in tears.

Before her transformation, Zohrah explained to host Cherry Healey: ‘I looked after my children, it was very stressful.
‘My husband wasn’t interested in me, I felt a bit lost. I was working all the hours that god sends and I didn’t take care of myself
‘When I made the decision to leave my husband, it was the beginning of my second part of life. But I don’t have the confidence to go out.
‘During lockdown, I didn’t see any of my family, I felt really sad and helpless. I seem to have lost connection to the world.
‘It’s been the toughest and most horrible days of my life, being divorced and living on my own, then having to isolate for three months.
‘It’s taught me life is short, and I want to make the most of it and have a fresh start’.

‘I feel like if life is going past me, I want to make the most of time I have left,’ she added.
‘It’s been such a long time since anyone looked after you, you’ve been incredibly courageous,’ host Cherry said.
Worried about gaps in her teeth, she first met with Dr Uchenna Okoye, a cosmetic dentist who hoped to get her smiling on the outside and inside.
She explained that she first noticed gaps in the bottom of her teeth while brushing them five years ago, and hasn’t smiled since.
Using a bonding resin, Dr Okoye gave her a new smile, explaining its a ‘really easy problem to fix.

Host Cherry Healey (pictured) and the team set about restoring Zohrah’s confidence, and over the ten days tried out various anti ageing technology, specialist hair treatments, and styling that resulted in a jaw dropping transformation.
Overwhelmed with the results, Zohrah welled up after seeing her new smile.
‘I’ve never seen them so straight before, you read my mind, I’ve never had anything done for me before,’ she explained.
Later, she met with Dr Martin Galy, a hair loss specialist, who explained that dropping hormone levels due to menopause was the cause of her thinning hair, and prescribed her an oestrogen shampoo to help thicken it.
For more immediate results, she saw hairdresser John Vial who gave her extensions and a microfibre spray to hide thinning at her roots.
She also met with cosmetic specialist Dr Nilam Holmes who gave her a collagen rejuvenating treatment to help tackle tired-looking eyes.
Nilam explained darkening of skin and loss of volume around the eyes is a common problem, while Zohrah added only getting three hours of sleep a night contributed to the problem.
Finally, Nilam met with stylist Gemma Sheppard who gave her a wardrobe full of athleisure wear so she could look stylish but comfy,
Delighted with her final look, she told Cherry: ‘I look younger than I did in my 20s’
Special needs teacher Jo also appeared on the episode. The 44-year-old mother-of-two, lost her mum when she was 13 and her dad two years ago. She is pictured left before and right after her makeover
Zohrah’s younger brother joined her on the show and was shocked to see her reaction.
‘What’s happened! I don’t recognise you anymore! Make yourself number one, you’ve given too much time to others over the years.’

Having struggled with depression since she was a teenager, Jo has done a lot of therapy and work but her outer shell doesn’t reflect how she now feels okay.
A public poll put her age at 56 – 12 years older than she really is, but after 12 days of treatments a second poll guessed she was just 42.
Her makeover involved meeting with John Vial, who gave her a whole new look, while she also met with Gemma Sheppard who created a capsule wardrobe for her.
