In a Monday night interview with Fox News’ Jesse Waters, the mayor of East Palestine, OH expressed disappointment in President Biden after learning about Biden’s trip to Ukraine. The President has yet to visit the site of the recent train derailment and resulting environmental disaster in the town of East Palestine.

Trent Conway joined the Fox News program Monday night alongside East Palestine resident Lenny Glavin. The two men told Waters they had met with Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw and found him to be sincere in his pledges to help the community. They both indicated Shaw listened to their concerns intently, and Conway says he will judge Shaw and Norfolk Southern by their actions in fulfilling their promises moving forward.

Waters then asked Mayor Conway if he had a response to Biden’s trip to Ukraine. Conway called it a “slap in the face.”

Absolutely, that’s the biggest slap in the face. That tells you right now he doesn’t care about us. He can send every agency he wants to; but I found that out this morning in one of the briefings that he was in Ukraine giving billions of dollars to the people over there but not to us, and I’m furious.

In a Tuesday press conference, Conway was pressed about his curt remarks. The East Palestine mayor admitted he was frustrated during the Fox interview, but said he stands by his comments and would welcome a visit from the President.

Two weeks after the derailment and chemical spill, the EPA has finally ordered Norfolk Southern to clean up the mess for the East Palestine community. There is still no word so far on whether or not President Biden intends to visit the community.
