Experts have issued a stark warning that reusable vapes could pose unexpected health risks if not cleaned properly, with many users unaware of the dangers.

Reusable vapes may be breeding grounds for harmful bacteria, exacerbated by their frequent contact with users’ mouths and airways, potentially leading to serious health problems that are not immediately linked to vaping.

Vape Globe specialists have voiced their concerns, highlighting the general lack of awareness regarding the necessary frequency of cleaning vapes, which is crucial not only for hygiene but also to ensure their effective operation.

The experts recommended: “This is most likely the part to pick up the most dirt, debris and germs. A rinse with warm water will do the trick.

“If you think it is particularly dirty or you just want a more thorough deep clean, you can add washing up liquid or isopropyl alcohol.”

“The vape tank, which holds the liquids that are inhaled, can potentially harbour bacteria and transport them directly into your body.

“It is also the part of the vape that can “get the dirtiest and attract the most bacteria and germs”.

Experts recommend a thorough clean once a week by disassembling the vape and quickly rinsing your tank with warm water for less than 60 seconds to prevent bacterial build-up. A mild soap can also be used for a deeper clean.

Regularly checking your vape for any damage or issues is crucial for maintaining its lifespan and avoiding potential health consequences.

The experts warned: “It is important to regularly check your battery and device for wear, and replace damaged parts as soon as possible as using a broken vape could be seriously harming you.”

For those using disposable vapes, there’s still a health risk if you share the vape, which can spread bacteria and viruses, or fail to regularly clean the mouthpiece with a clean cloth, alcohol wipe or isopropyl alcohol-dipped cotton swabs to maintain hygiene.

The experts also advised double-checking the expiration date on your vape to ensure you’re getting the best quality and performance from it.
